Soccer School Registration

We create yearly programs that follow the Australian School terms (4 x 10 weeks) that are tailored to the age of the child. Each term would consist of 10 weekly 75 minute sessions followed by a four day holiday camp (optional) with each term focussed on a particular attribute/skill and a holiday camp tailored to review those skills. An example of a year’s program is as follows:

Term 1 (February – April) Individual Ball Mastery

  • We want our players to be comfortable on the ball in all areas of the field, playing in any position and under pressure. By having this as our first term it will give an opportunity for every one of our players to develop the basic technical ability they need before moving on. This will be a constant theme throughout the year.

Term 2 (April – July) Range of Ball Striking

  • Now we know each player has a basic technical ability with the ball at their feet, we can start to work on different ball striking techniques. This will range from short and long range passing, shooting and finishing (and teaching the difference), volleys and half volleys.

Term 3 (July – September) Team Attacking and Defending

  • Adding on to individual talent, we want to teach kids how to play as a team. Depending on age and how advanced a group might be, this term will vary massively. Ranging from over lapping, wall passes and movement off the ball, to overloading areas going forward, as well as installing defensive principles to a player’s game, we look in this term to develop tactical awareness in the older age groups and the need to help out the team with the younger players.

Term 4 (October – December) Game Play Scenarios

  • In the final term of the year we will look continue with term three’s team emphasis combine the themes of the previous terms and introduce players into a league and competition. By reviewing areas that we covered previously we will test player’s ability to retain information and demonstrate what they have learnt. A chance for coaches to go over previous difficult subjects and propel players further.

Each term interflows with one another, and be progressive. Fun emphasized, small sided games with different aims and outcome will be frequent giving the individual as much opportunity as possible to express their newly developed techniques and skills.

Term 1 Soccer School Program

February 2 – April 10

Term 1’s emphasis is to have each individual spend as much time as possible with a ball at their feet. Players must be comfortable on the ball in all areas of the field, playing in any position and under pressure. By having this as our first term it will give an opportunity for every one of our players to develop the basic technical ability they need before moving on. As the year and terms progress, we will use many drills from this term as warm ups to continue the emphasis of each and every child increase their ability on the ball all the time.

We will look to combine ideas from around the globe to give variety, with the constant theme of touches on the ball. Kids will use all parts of both feet to control the ball and we will encourage them to work beyond their comfort level. We will give the kids new skills each week to become masters of the ball, both on the ground and in the air.
